The University’s management has always set itself the ambitious task of training qualified and competitive specialists who are able to make competent decisions in the most difficult situations, leaders who are able to respond to the challenges of the global economy.

It was these circumstances that dictated the need to open the economics department at that time, as it was aimed at obtaining a high-quality and prestigious economic higher education in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The history of the modern Department of Economics dates back to the fact that it was established in 1994 as the Department of “Economic Disciplines” .

In the 2016-2017 academic year, the Department of Economics and Law was transformed into the Department of Economics.

Currently, the Department of Economics employs 31 teaching staff, including 1 Doctor of Economics, 12 candidates of Sciences, 3 associate professors, 1 professor and 2 employees from production.

At the Department of Economics, research and development is carried out by the student scientific circle “Zhas Economist”, created on the initiative of students and representatives of the faculty.

The purpose of organizing the circle is to develop economic thinking, learn how to independently acquire, assimilate and apply economic knowledge, develop students ‘active life position in relation to the economic processes taking place in society, and use students’ creative potential to solve current problems.

The purpose of the educational program 6B04132 “State and local Administration” is to train competitive specialists who have decision-making skills for working in state and local government bodies, national, public and private companies, the ability to analyze state programs, and monitor the quality of public services.

The objects of professional activity of graduates are: The administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (RK); the apparatus of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, various structural subdivisions of the Government of the ROK; the controls of the economy and Finance (ministries, departments and agencies); local authorities (akimats of regions, cities, regions) and Executive bodies; the national state and private companies, concerns, corporations and others.

The purpose of the higher education program in the direction 6B091-Tourism is to train highly qualified specialists engaged in organizing and providing tourist services, as well as attracting tourists, organizing and providing high-quality tourist services for various categories of tourists

The educational program of higher education 6B091-Tourism is aimed at training bachelors in the field of organization of tourist services, who are able to develop services adapted to the needs of consumers and promote them on the domestic and foreign markets based on modern marketing technologies.

The objects of professional activity of the bachelor in the field of OP-Tourism services are:

• public administration bodies related to the organization of tourism (ministries, akimats, their regional divisions and structures),
• public and private companies engaged in tourism business,
• travel consulting companies;
• marketing services of tourist enterprises;
• tourism infrastructure items;
• educational institutions that train mid-level specialists in tourism, centers of additional education
• research organizations that study the problems of tourism development;
• advertising agencies that promote tourist services to the domestic and foreign markets;

– organizations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations system;

— other organizations and companies whose activities are related to the tourism industry.

The teaching staff of the Department of Economics conducts research in the field of socio-economic problems. Scientific papers and articles of the Faculty of the department are published in domestic and foreign publications, scientific works. The department pays special attention to professional development of its employees. Every year, teachers of the department attend advanced training courses in various areas.

Scientific potential of the department

At the beginning of the academic year, the number of teaching staff amounted to 31 units, including 1 doctor, 12 candidates of sciences, 14 masters, 3 without an academic degree, the department’s graduation rate is 42% of full-time teaching staff.

Implementation of the thematic research plan, activities of research laboratories

The department has a research laboratory “Economics”. Joint theme of the laboratory with the Department “Management, Finance, accounting and tourism in the context of sustainable regional development of the Turkestan region: theoretical and applied research”. The entire faculty of the Department of Economics takes part in the work of the laboratory, the head of the laboratory is Candidate of Economic Sciences Demeubaeva A. O. The result of the laboratory’s work is the creation of an effective mechanism for improving the socio-economic development of the Turkestan region. The teaching staff of the department takes an active part in the implementation of research projects concluded on the basis of business contracts. Research is carried out by order of enterprises and is of an applied nature.

Participation in publications with a non-zero impact factor (Scopus, Thomson Reuters, RSCI), in foreign journals and conferences, allows teaching staff to gain experience, establish scientific connections, and present their results in professional activities. Information about publications of the Faculty of the Department of Economics in publications recommended in 2018-2019, 2019-2020, and 2020-2021.

Every year, the best works of students presented in the framework of the department’s research and development program are published in the collection of the Republican Student Scientific Conference. The number of students who took part in the conference increases annually, and during the reporting period it increased by 55%.

Also, students of the specialty related to the Department of “Economics” passed the 3rd republican contest of youth business projects “Menin Armanym” among universities.

Based on the results of the competition among 17 projects:

2nd place was shared by a student of the specialty “Mechanical Engineering” Kashpayev Mynbolsyn Zhangeldyevich under the guidance of K. N. Khusainov, a teacher of the Higher School “Economics and Audit” of the West Kazakhstan Agrarian and Technical University named after Zhangir Khan, and a student of the specialty “State Local Administration” Dauletbayev Daniyar under the guidance of a master of the Department of “Economic Disciplines” of the Institute of Academician Mardan Saparbayev Tekebayev G. D.

3rd place was shared by a student of the specialty “Tourism” Vasiliev Daniil Aleksandrovich under the guidance of Ph. D. Demeubaeva A. O. of the Department of “Economics” of the Institute of Academician Mardan Saparbayev and a student of the specialty “Foreign language” Kanatova Aizhan Kayyrbekova under the guidance of a teacher of the Department of “Philology” of the Institute of Academician Mardan Saparbayev.

Prizes were awarded with cash prizes and awards from the Institute of Academician Mardan Saparbayev with the presentation of diplomas and certificates.

On 25.04.2021, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference “30th anniversary of independent Kazakhstan: stages of development, achievements, tasks and prospects”, the department presented 21 articles, held scientific events with the participation of teaching staff of the Abylai Khan International University of Languages, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Miras University, Kh. A. International Kazakh-Turkish University.Yassavi, Jalal-Abad State University (Kyrgyzstan), Jalal-Abad State University named after B. A. Today marks the 30th anniversary of our native tenge. During this time, it has undergone many changes and has been transformed in accordance with the requirements of the time. Nevertheless, many people remember the first tenge, which became the pride of all Kazakhs. Tenge depicted by khans Al-Farabi, Suyunbai, Kurmangazy, Abai, Shokan, Abulkhair and Abylai are kept in museums.In honor of the holiday, students of the Central Asian Innovation University visited the museum of the National Bank, where they saw the first samples of tenge and made an excursion for familiarization.

In terms of beauty, Kazakh money has become the best at international competitions 5 times. But most importantly, it has not lost its national status. How a reliable currency attracted the attention of the public, – the employees of the National Bank told.

On November 14, in the Shymkent Academic Kazakh Drama Theater named after Zh. Shanin, in honor of the 30th anniversary of the national currency tenge, the National Bank of Kazakhstan organized a festive event – “Tenge tauelsizdik nyshany” with the participation of representatives of financial institutions, as well as the leadership of the Central Academy of Art and Science and the teaching staff , students of the Department of Business and Tourism

 In honor of the 30th anniversary of the national currency–tenge, a round table on “Financial Literacy” was organized today at the Central Asian Innovation University, which was attended by representatives of institutions working in the financial sector of the region, higher educational institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, namely:

At the meeting, questions were discussed about the activities, history, and current importance of the tenge in strengthening foreign exchange relations, as well as about educating the population in financial literacy and a significant event in the financial sector, the digital tenge, which from 2025 will be used in the country as a whole. Such tasks as the importance of the financial sector in the implementation of economic tasks for the state, maintaining the stability of the financial market, and stimulating economic growth were also voiced.

The Central Asian Innovation University maintains close relations with banks, including the Treasury Department of the Treasury Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the city of Shymkent. Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Head of the Department, Mr. Natbay Berik Mamyrovich, said that as a result of cooperation with the university, a number of successful projects have been implemented. He also expressed confidence that the reliable partnership with the educational institution will continue.

The ancient settlement of Shymkent has always attracted the attention of not only archaeologists, historians, journalists and writers, but also travelers. Until recently, the city was only a hill in the area of the “old town”, but archaeological excavations of the early noughties gave reason to assert that the city is more than 2,200 years old. Then a comprehensive study of the old city began with subsequent excavations, conservation and restoration of the walls, as well as the construction of the former citadel.

In this regard, the students of the VAI conducted a walking tour of the Citadel. We listened to a story about the oldest part of the oldest city in Kazakhstan.

The tour was conducted by a representative of the Department of Tourism and External Relations of Shymkent, working in the Tourist Information Center of the city “Visit Shymkent” Bekmuratova Gulnara Kenzhetaevna. She introduced the students to the history of the old city.

On 27.09.2023, within the framework of the week dedicated to the World Tourism Day, students majoring in ‘Tourism’ of the OAIU and the college “Parasat” made an unforgettable trip around the city of Shymkent.

The trip was conducted by Gulnara Kenzhetaevna Bekmuratova, a representative of the Department of Tourism and External Relations of Shymkent city of the City Tourist Information Center “Visit Shymkent” and introduced students to interesting facts and events related to the history of the city, its emergence, formation and development of the city of Shymkent.

The Department of Tourism and External Relations of Shymkent held an event in the exhibition center “Korme”.

On September 29, 2020, Shadieva Aigul Amirkhanovna was elected a member of the International Academy of Informatization.

By the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic, Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics of the Mardan Institute, B. A. Saparbayeva, was appointed the official opponent of the doctoral dissertation of A. B. Karbekova on the topic “Cluster modernization of the agricultural sector of the Kyrgyz Republic”.

The dissertation defense will take place on January 12, 2021 at a meeting of the Dissertation Council at the International University (Jalal-Abad) and Osh State University. Opposition to the dissertation contributes to the implementation of the Agreement on International Cooperation with B. Osmonov Jalal-Abad State University, since the applicant is the head of the Department of Finance and Credit of the Faculty of Economics and Law of the partner university and actively cooperates with the Department of Economics.

Contribution of students of the specialty ” Tourism “to the implementation of the program”Rukhani zhangyru”!

We all know that the program of the Head of State N. A. Nazarbayev “Looking to the future: modernization of public consciousness” is designed to make our people more conscious and qualitative, to increase our spiritual wealth. The role of the Head of State’s article “seven facets of the Great Steppe” for November 2018, which contributed to the implementation of these target areas, is enormous. Here was one of the most important articles designed to evaluate the history of the people, bring spiritual richness to it and show the cultural and sacred aspects of our people. As part of the article by the Head of State, we, 1st-year students of the Mardan Saparbayev Institute specializing in “Tourism”, contributing to the spiritual modernization of our people, paid a visit to the city of Otrar on April 9. The land where our great scientist Al-Farabi was born, where the scientific archives of our Al-Farabi are kept, as well as the Arystan-Bab mausoleum, which is a precious treasure of the Islamic world. During the visit, we got acquainted with the scientific works of our ancestors, which left a place in the science and culture of the Kazakh people, their brilliant commandments and widely important information about ancient times. We learned a lot about the years of construction of the Arystan-Bab mausoleum and its place in the history of our people. We got acquainted with the visitors of the Mausoleum. In the course of thinking about the research methods of the specialty “Tourism”, we confirmed the high importance of increasing the reception of guests in the museum of the Otrarsky district, which has become a historical heritage, increasing hospitality, and therefore further development of tourism. Our trip was significant, important and interesting.

Mardan Saparbayev Institute, 1st year students of the specialty “Tourism”.

On 12.10.2019, students of the specialty “Tourism” of the Mardan Saparbayev Institute successfully completed the next sports and cognitive route along the Sairam-Ugam SSPP. This event is aimed at studying the tourist potential of the Turkestan region.
